grinding?

Lately (since I've stopped wearing the elastics) I've been waking up at night to find myself grinding my teeth together. I don't know if my mouth just got used to the elastics holding my jaws together at night, or if my teeth fitting together differently now is causing me to grind. Has anyone else had a problem with this? I'm afraid I'm going to mess something up in there!

Melissa - I didn't find myself grinding, but I'd wake up CLENCHING like mad. I was worried, too -- but it stopped pretty soon after it started. I think it might have just been an adjustment thing.

melissa-I used to grind before I had jaw surgery because my jaw was angled so that it took alot of muscle and tension to keep it closed. As for now, I still have elastics so we'll see. But I also found myself clenching like Bridget after surgery and it is slowly getting better.

Oh my god.. I totally find I'm grinding my teeth a lot more than before.. but it tends to be mainly when they're a bit tender after adjustments.. I'm sure it will calm down and it's just your muscles and ligaments getting used to the movement - it only takes a few millimetres to make a difference in there! xx

Ha! That's how I know when it's possible for teeth (some of them anyways) to touch, even if not very comfortably, as I wake myself up doing the clench and grind. I've come to the conclusion I actually like it best when the teeth won't line up, purely so this doesn't happen :)

Happy belated Brithday, by the way. Hope you did it up in style!!
